Walt Disney Imagineering Paris is working on new surprises for guests visiting Disneyland Park!
More Magic is coming to Rivers of the Far West in Frontierland
After the recent update to the famous Big Thunder Mountain in Frontierland®, it’s now time for Rivers of the Far West to get a fresh new look! The beautiful landscapes and animal figures around the river will be carefully restored, and exciting new scenes will be added—based on the original artwork of Disney Legend and Imagineer Marc Davis. Keep an eye out for new sights like a buffalo roaming the prairie or deer drinking near a waterfall!

You’ll be able to enjoy all of this during a peaceful ride on the iconic Molly Brown boat (Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing), which is also being fully renovated from front to back. To make everything feel even more real, the Walt Disney Imagineering Paris and Design & Delivery teams have found real 19th-century objects from the American West to use as decorations!
Unfortunately, Disney hasn’t shared more information about the Mark Twain boat, which has been in poor condition and hasn’t sailed the Rivers of the Far West with guests for years.
A New Treasure Hunt in the Caves of Adventure Isle
Disney Imagineers are always coming up with fun new adventures, and soon Adventure Isle will have its own treasure hunt! This new activity will take place in the mysterious caves and will be linked to the story of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
When you enter the caves, you’ll see scrolls from famous characters in the attraction, asking you to help them find their missing items. One example: a dog has lost a set of keys he needs to guard the pirates locked in the fort’s dark cells—you’ll have to find them!
This fun experience, filled with hand-painted signs and props made to look just like those in the ride, will open in fall 2025. It will add even more story and adventure to Adventure Isle, and bring Adventureland® even more to life!
