?? Deze week liet Disneyland Paris weten te zijn gestart met de bouw van zonnepanelen boven de parking. Het gerucht dat er zo’n panelen boven de parkeerplaatsen zouden worden gebouwd bestaat al jaren, maar de realisatie bleef echter uit tot nu. Als onderdeel van de voortdurende inzet om milieuvriendelijke praktijken in het Resort te ontwikkelen en uit te voeren en tegelijkertijd duurzame ontwikkeling in de regio te bevorderen.
De installatie wordt uitgevoerd in samenwerking en door middel van een co-investering met het Franse bedrijf Urbasolar, dat gespecialiseerd is in de bouw en exploitatie van zonne-energiecentrales. Het project zal tot 2023 gefaseerd worden gebouwd op de parkeerplaats van de Disney Parken en heeft tot doel de hoeveelheid hernieuwbare energie die lokaal wordt geproduceerd en verbruikt door Disneyland Parijs te vergroten.
Disneyland Paris is niet de eerste met het idee de parkeerplaats te overdekken met zonnepanelen, ook Efteling in Nederland heeft vorig jaar een aanvraag ingediende voor zo’n installatie. Het dierenpark Pairi Daiza in België heeft zo’n project al klaar en in gebruik genomen.
