The 21st Century Fox accepts the new offer from The Walt Disney Company, Disney increases its offer to 38 dollars (33 euros) per share, ten dollars more than the first offer in December 2017.
Disney would like to take over the film distribution from The 21st Century Fox to compete with the streaming platform Netflix. The intention is that Disney will launch his own streaming service in 2019 or 2020.
At the moment, Disney is already testing with “Disney Life” a platform that is currently only available in the UK that contains content from films and games from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel.
But Disney wants to bring Fox in The Walt Disney Company to offer more content and to develop more exclusive films or series that can exclusively be viewed by paid subscribers of Disney’s future streaming service.
But Comcast don’t want to see that happen and had made a offer of 65 billion dollars (55 billion euros) on Fox. Because the cable TV company has lost many customers due to the rise of Netflix and wants more content for a steaming service from them.
Disney certainly does not want to lose the deal with Fox and raises its offer to 38 dollars (33 euros) per share (71.3 billion euros).
The 21st Century Fox also makes no secret that they would rather work with Disney than with Concast, director Rupert Murdoch reports that in a press statement.
“We remain convinced that 21st Century Fox and Disney together can become one of the world’s best and most innovative companies”.
The deal is not complete yet. Shareholders are given time to evaluate the offer and may also receive a competitive offer in the meantime.
The takeover of Fox could also can become interesting in a later period for the theme parks of Disney or Comcast (Universal) where they can introduce a lot new characters and new attractions.
If Disney wins the deal, chances are that X-men and deadpool will be added to the Marvel (cinematic) Universe too.

Disney zou graag het filmdistributie overnemen van The 21st Century Fox om de concurrentie met streaming platform Netflix aan te gaan. De bedoeling is dat dit gelanceerd zal worden in 2019 of 2020.

Want de kabeltelevisie maatschappij heeft door de opkomst van Netflix veel klanten verloren en wil zelf ook meer content voor een steaming dienst van hun.

The 21st Century Fox maakt er ook geen geheim van dat ze toch liever met Disney willen samenwerken dan met Concast meld directeur Rupert Murdoch in een persverklaring.

De verkoop is nog niet helemaal compleet. Aandeelhouders krijgen tijd om het bod te evalueren en mogen ondertussen ook nog een concurrerend aanbod in ontvangst nemen.
De overnamen van Fox zou in een latere periode ook interessant kunnen worden voor de pretparken van Disney of Comcast (Universal) waarbij ze heel wat nieuwe characters en nieuwe attracties kunnen introduceren.
Als Disney de deal binnenhaalt is de kans ook groot dat X-men en deadpool toegevoegd worden aan de Marvel (cinematic) Universe.
