?? 54 jaar na Walt Disney’s Mary Poppins is wereld’s bekendste kinderoppas terug in de bioscoop te zien. Deze keer neemt Emily Blunt de rol van Mary Poppins voor haar rekening. In de film van 1964 was deze rol voor Julie Andrews, ook bekend van The Sound of Music.
Zowel aan Julie Andrews als aan Dick Van Dyke, die in 1964 de rol van Bert speelde, werd gevraagd naar hun opinie over het vervolg en ook of ze er opnieuw deel van wilden uitmaken.
Dick Van Dyke stemde in en kreeg in “Mary Poppins Returns” een “cameo”, een korte verschijning in de film, maar niet als Bert.
Julie Andrews, die ontzettend tevreden is over het vervolg van de originele Mary Poppins, wou echter niet in de film verschijnen. De reden hiervoor is uit respect voor Emily Blunt. Julie Andrews wou niet in haar spotlight staan en wou dat deze “Mary Poppins Returns” voor 100% een Emily Blunt-show werd. Natuurlijk had het voor de fans wel leuker geweest om ergens in de film Julie Andrews te kunnen spotten.

?? 54 years after Walt Disney’s Mary Poppins, the world’s best-known nanny has returned to cinemas. This time, Emily Blunt is responsible for the role of Mary Poppins. In the 1964 film this role was for Julie Andrews, also known from The Sound of Music.
Both Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, who played the role of Bert in 1964, were asked for their opinion about the re-make and whether they wanted to be part of it again.
Dick Van Dyke agreed and got a “cameo” Mary Poppins Returns”, a short appearance in the film, but not as Bert.
Julie Andrews, who is very satisfied with sequel to the original Mary Poppins, did not want to appear in the film. The reason for this is out of respect for Emily Blunt. Julie Andrews did not want to be in her spotlight and wanted this “Mary Poppins Returns” to be an Emily Blunt show for 100%. Of course it would have been nicer for the fans to spot Julie Andrews somewhere in the movie.
