Vandaag inviteerde Disneyland Paris enkele fan media, zoals Pixiedust.be en anderen, voor een speciaal evenement over de souvenirs voor de 25ste verjaardag van Disneyland Paris. Ook al was er deze week een groot deel van deze merchandise reeds verschenen in één van de shops van het Disneyland Park, werd het toch een zeer leuke namiddag met enkele verrassingen en toch nog wat merchandise die nog niet in de shops te vinden zijn.
Today Disneyland Paris invited some fan media, like Pixiedust.be and others, to a special event about the merchandise of the 25th Anniversary of Disneyland Paris. Even though most of the merchandise was already in one of the shops at the Disneyland Park, it was a very nice afternoon with some special surprises and still some merchandise that’s not for sale at this moment.
Het was ook best eens uniek om in de backstage van Disneyland Paris te zijn, voor mijn een eerste keer. Ik wist niet waar eerst gekeken tijdens onze wandeling en busrit doorheen dit gebied. Ik was verrast om enkele oude props uit de parken hier terug te vinden. En op weg naar een event over de 25ste verjaardag zagen we tussen de backstage gebouwen ook nog decoratie van de 5de verjaardag van zo’n 20 jaar geleden.
It was also special to be in the backstage of Disneyland Paris, a first time for me. I did’t know where to look first during walkthrough and bus ride into this area. I was suprised to see some old props from the parks, now standing in the backstage or just left outside. And on a event about the 25th Anniversary we could see some old decorations from the 5th Anniversary between the backstage buildings.
Eerst gingen we richting het “Baloo gebouw” met de bus om van daaruit verder te wandelen richting het “Mickey Mouse gebouw” waar ploeg van de merchandise te vinden is. Op de eerste verdieping zien we een hele equipe designers aan het werk aan verschillende burelen die overigens fantastisch versierd zijn met oude en nieuwere Disney spullen.
First we went to the “Baloo building” and from there we walked to the “Mickey Mouse building” where the merchandise departement is located. On the first floor a lot of people working on their own desks….and those desks are decorated with old and new merchandise…incredible !
Eens binnen in de vergaderingruimte kon de presentatie beginnen en hier mochten we ook foto’s nemen. Op andere plaatsen was dit niet toegestaan. Hier stonden de Cast Members te wachten die aan deze collectie 2 jaar hebben gewerkt.
Once in the meeting room the presentation started with all the Cast Members involved in the creation of the 25th Merchandise, they worked on that for 2 years. Here we could take photo’s, this was not allowed in other parts of the backstage area.
Op deze foto herken je waarschijnlijk Regis, voormalig Disneyland Paris Ambassadeur. Hij is nu lid van het Merchandise team. Hij is verantwoordelijk voor de meest interessante spullen, zeker voor de fans, de Disney Collectie stukken. Na deze presentatie hadden we ook nog een kleine tour in dit gebouw waarin iedere afdeling van de merchandise nog een eigen kamer heeft. Zo zijn er ruimtes van de “kledij”, “seizoenen”, “collectibles”, ….Regis’ bureel, de “collectibles”, was natuurlijk het meeste imposante. Het was een waar museum van oude en nieuwe beelden en verzamelstukken.
You probably recognize Regis, former Disneyland Paris Ambassador. He is now part of the team of the Merchandise. He is responsible for the most interesting section for fans, the Disney Collectibles. After the presentation we had a small tour inside this building. Every departement of the merchandise has small offices inside this building: Clothing, Seasonal, Collectibles (the most impressive one), Stationary, … Regis office, the collectibles, had a very nice collection of new and older figurines.

Bijna 2 dezelfde T-shirts, maar als je ze van dichtbij bekijkt dat zie je dat er op één van de versies de datum 12 april 2017 te zien is. Dit is dan ook een versie die op 12 April 2017 zelf zal verkocht worden.
Almost 2 of the same T-shirts, but if you look closer you will see one of them is dated 12 April 2017. This one will be sold on 12 April 2017, the actual anniversary of Disneyland Paris.

Mathias presenteert hier zijn project, een nieuw boek over Disneyland Paris. Dit is één van de items dat ik zeker zal kopen en IEDERE Disney fan zou het hetzelfde moeten doen. Dit is een FANTASTISCH boek, en we hadden de kans om al vlug eens te gluren in het prototype. En geloof me….wanneer ik zeg dat er een speciale verrassing in het boek verborgen zit voor de fans, alleen dit maakt het al reden genoeg om het boek te kopen. Ik zeg nog niet wat het is, dat willen ze geheim houden, maar het is “Euro Disney” gerelateerd.
Mathias presenting his project. The new book about Disneyland Paris. This is one of the items I will buy for sure and EVERY Disney fan should do to same. This will be a VERY VERY wonderful book, we had a chance to have a first look inside the book. AND….believe me when I’m saying that there is a special surprise inside the book for the fans, this suprise is already reason enough to buy the book. I don’t say what it is, but it’s “Euro Disney” related !!

De miniatuur van het kasteel, zeer mooi gemaakt. Ze werkten daarvoor samen met Disney Imagineering. Het beeld is gebaseerd om de allereerste maquette van het kasteel en dus niet om het uiteindelijk kasteel die in het park gebouwd werd. Daardoor zijn er enkele details anders zoals de naam “Chateau de la Belle au Bois Dormant” die er niet op te vinden is.
The miniature of the Castle, very nicely done. They worked together with Disney Imagineering for that, it’s made like the first Castle maquette from 25 years ago and not from the real castle, so some details will be different than on the actual castle, such as the name “Chateau de la Belle au Bois Dormant”.

Na de kleine rondleiding in het gebouw keerden we terug naar het lokaal waar de prestatie had plaatsgevonden, en daar hadden ze vlug voor iedereen een geschenkje klaargezet. Als dat niet leuk is.
After our tour in the building, went went back to the presentation office and they quickly made a bag for everyone with a nice present inside.
